Blog Post #9 - Initial Storyboard

After my establishing shot, there will be a shot of the girls jumping on the trampoline. The shot will be mid-shot with the girls as the main focus of the shot. There will be little to no depth. This is because I want the viewers to just focus on the girls and the bond of sisterhood they have. They will also be holding hand to show how close they are. I was thinking of a handheld shot, to put the viewer in the action with the girls but I think it will be to much with the bouncing. There will be music over it, and I think a voice over (not sure yet), the viewer can obviously see that they are happy. The tone will be brighter so they can see this is a good memory.

To embody the childhood memory vibe I want shots of the girls playing. This shot will be of them playing tag. It will be a long shot with depth. The location will be the big open part in froth of the barn and woods. I want the girls to stay in frame for most of the time so there is no awkward parts with no one in frame. The plan is for it to be a close shot. The girls will be constantly moving during this shot. There will be no cut to more stationary angles.

This shot will be a handheld shot of the girls playing tag. This is for the viewer to be in the action with the characters. This makes the movie more interesting and the viewers can feel like they're in the movie. This makes them feel more connected to a movie and the characters, which is a want. I really want the viewers to connect and relate with my characters. There won't be any other point of focus other than the girls. It will be lots of movement so the depth will be most likely shallow. The location will be the same as the last shot, so its continuing the last shot.

The next shot will just be the main character and her dog. The dog will have more meaning later on in the film. I said aerial shot because that is the type I want, but I don't have the equipment for that. So it will probably end up being a low angled shot. There will be little to no depth and the focus will be on them and their bond.  The figures, main character and dog, will be moving and playing. This will represent that the main character and the dog have good connection. The camera will most likely be stationary, a pan might look go for this shot.

This will be the last shot of this memory before it transitions to present day. The shot will be a long shot. The depth will be like shot two; deep. The trees and the fence will contribute to the depth. However, the main focus is the girls running. The girls will be holding hands, showing the close knit bond they have, which will contribute to their strong connection that is explored later in the movie. The will be running from the camera meaning that this is the end of this phase. This will cut into the next shot.

This shot will be continuing from the last scene. It will be low angled up to the sun. It will zoom into the sun to set it for the next shot. The sun is bright and symbolizes happiness. It transitions into a sunless gloomy sky, symbolizing sadness. The camera will zoom out of the gloomy sky. This will be the perfect transition for this type of film. Since the childhood memories are cheerful and full of happiness while the current times of adulthood are gloomy, lonely, and sad.
